Privacy Policy

Effective August 18, 2026

This policy explains how RunLoop Fitness ("RunLoop," "we," "our," or "us") handles information in the RunLoop mobile application, website, and Community beta.

Location data

RunLoop uses device location to choose a starting point, geocode or use a selected address, generate routes, discover nearby trails and parks, show live position, provide navigation, and record active runs. When you start an active run and grant the required permission, RunLoop may use background location so tracking can continue while the app is backgrounded or the screen is locked. Geographic coordinates and route preferences may be sent to RunLoop's hosted service and mapping, routing, geocoding, weather, or public-trail providers as needed to provide requested features.

Local runner profile and run history

RunLoop can store a runner profile, run history, GPS tracks, splits, route ratings, journal notes, app preferences, voice settings, and voluntarily entered fitness preferences on your device. An online Community account is optional. You may delete local run history in the app or by clearing app storage or uninstalling.

Community beta

If you create a Community account, we process your email address, authentication records, username, display name, optional profile details, privacy settings, follows, blocks, club memberships and requests, challenges, comments, kudos, saved routes, reports, and activities you choose to sync. Supabase provides Community authentication and database hosting. Synced run summaries remain private unless you choose another visibility. Publishing a run as a reusable Community route is a separate choice.

Published routes and location privacy

A route you voluntarily publish may include route geometry, distance, surface or terrain information, ratings, and condition reports. RunLoop masks approximately the first and last 500 meters before a route is shared. This reduces exposure of an exact start or finish, but an approximate area, repeated patterns, or other route details may still reveal sensitive locations. Do not publish a route that reveals a home, workplace, private property, restricted area, or another location you do not want others to infer.

Estimated metrics

Calories, steps, elevation, route quality, terrain, surface, shade, trail attributes, weather, and similar values may be estimated from profile information, GPS, maps, and public data. These values are not medical measurements or guarantees.

Third-party services and public data

RunLoop may use Supabase, Google Maps Platform, OpenRouteService, OpenStreetMap and Overpass, National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service data when configured, state or local GIS services when configured, Expo/EAS hosting, and public weather or environmental services. These providers may process coordinates, account information, or technical request data as needed to provide the requested feature and under their own policies.

Voice navigation

RunLoop uses the device's installed text-to-speech system. Voice identifiers and preferences are stored locally. Spoken route instructions are generated from navigation information.

Apple Music controls

On supported iPhone builds, RunLoop requests Media & Apple Music permission only when you choose to enable music controls. RunLoop sends play, pause, previous, next, or stop commands to the system music player. RunLoop does not upload your Apple Music library or listening history to the Community service.

Contact information

If you email RunLoop, we receive your email address, message, attachments, and other information you choose to provide.

Data sale and advertising

RunLoop does not sell personal information. The current release does not use personal data for targeted advertising.

Children

RunLoop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Retention

Active Community records are kept while your account or content remains active. Soft-deleted comments and declined or cancelled club requests are removed after 30 days. Safety reports, moderation reports, and route-condition reports are removed after 24 months. Some information may remain for a limited period in backups, security logs, or where retention is required by law.

Security

We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You may deny or revoke location permission through Android or iOS settings. Core route, Trail Explorer, Quick Run, and navigation features may not function without location access. Community provides a data-export control. You can permanently delete your Community account and synced data immediately from Profile in the app or website, or use the public account deletion page.

Changes

We may update this policy as features change. The effective date will be updated when material revisions are posted.
